INDUSTRY AWARDS

THE 2006 WOOD DESIGN AWARDS (OCTOBER, 2006):

In the fall of 2006, the architectural firm of Osburn-Clarke was one of the companies honored out of more 200 candidates for their building design by the Wood Design Awards for Innovative Design in North America. K.W. Doors & Windows provided the windows and doors for this unique and challenging project, located in the Gulf Islands.

Due to the local land-use bylaws, no more than 500 sq. feet (46 square meters) of floor space was permitted to be used, accounting for the verticality of the structure. The covered outdoor areas operate in all climates, increasing the living space beyond the boundaries of the building itself, while permitting the occupant to remain protected from inhospitable weather.

Eclipse bifolding exterior doors provide the convenience of open-ended walls on the upper floor to create a comfortable indoor/outdoor living space. A series of sliding shutters and walls can be positioned over all accessible glazing, making it possible to secure the premise when it is unoccupied.
